Yom HaShoah Program - 13 Driver's Licences: 13 Jewish Lives

On April 6, 2021, PBJC held it's annual Yom HaShoah commemoration with Lisa Salko and Inge Stanton. “13 Driver's Licenses: 13 Jewish Lives” - An envelope containing 13 driver’s licenses confiscated from German Jews during Kristallnacht in November 1938 was discovered nearly 80 years later in a government office in the Bavarian town of Lichtenfels. We were honored to hear Lisa, Inge, and our own Nancy Stanton-Tuckman tell this fascinating story and to learn about the connection to our local community.

Religious School Blessing of the Animals

The annual Religious School Blessing of the Animals was held at PBJC on Sunday, November 3, 2019 in commemoration of Parashat Noach, the telling of the tale of Noah's Ark.

Religious school students were joined by parents and pets along with other congregants as Cantor Menachem Toren blessed our furry friends.

Students learn that caring for animals is a “mitzvah,” good deed, and an important Jewish value!

Men's Club Community 5K

Pine Brook Jewish Center (PBJC) Men’s Club hosted the first PBJC Community 5K to kick off the fall season on September 8, 2019.

There were 141 registered entrants for this event, including the Montville Chief of Police, Andrew Caggiano, and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Rene Rovtar. Participants ranged in age from 2 to 74 years old. The top three winners received medals and all participants received a commemorative T-shirt.

The Grand Event Sponsor was The MAX Challenge of Pine Brook. Montville Periodontics and Implantology, LLC was the Platinum sponsor and DVL, Inc, was the Gold sponsor. Our Family Level sponsors were Fairfield Physical Therapy Center, USA Twisterz and the Handler Family.

The 5K raised $2,400, which benefitted Stigma-Free Montville, OneMontville, and the PBJC Men's Club. The course was certified by the US Track and Field Association and there was a community reception at PBJC following the race.

Spearheaded by PBJC Men’s Club Vice-President Phil Schachter, over 20 volunteers helped out before, during, and after the event, including R.E.A.C.H. student volunteers. The Pine Brook Jewish Center would like to thank the local community for their support of this fun community event.

Stay tuned for more information on next year’s PBJC Community 5K and how you can participate!
